The Slovenian Armed Forces is the defence force of the Republic of Slovenia. Its mission and tasks are set out in the Defence Act. The mission of the Slovenian Armed Forces is to provide military defence of the Republic of Slovenia in cooperation with the Allies, deter military aggression against the Republic of Slovenia, establish sovereignty on the entire territory of the Republic of Slovenia, and contribute to international peace and stability in the Alliance and beyond.
The mission of the Slovenian Armed Forces is to act independently or in collaboration with its Allies to:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE SLOVENIAN ARMED FORCES
- Provide military education and training for armed combat and defence
- Ensure readiness
- Provide military defence in the event of an attack on the country
- Participate in protection and rescue missions
- Implement national obligations under international organization memberships and international treaties
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Contribute to international peace, security and stability
- Provide support in ensuring the safety and welfare of the citizens of Slovenia
- Cooperate with the police in securing the national border
