The Doctrine, Development, Education and Training Command (DDETC) operates from the Kadetnica Military Facility in Maribor.
The Slovenian Armed Forces established the DDETC and its subordinate units in accordance with the directives of the Minister of Defence.
The DDETC is commanded by Brigadier Boštjan Baš.
Mission statement
The structure of the DDETC consists of a Headquarters and four centres:
- Officer Education and Training Centre
 - Non-Commissioned Officer Education and Training Centre
 - Training Centre
 - Doctrine and Development Centre
 
Following the reorganization, the Doctrine and Development Centre has been re-established to comprize the following: Doctrine and Development Group, Military Education and Training Development and Quality Group, E-Learning Group, Military Operations Group, Military Management, Leadership and Ethics Group, and Military Defence Systems Group. In addition, the Library, Information and Publishing Centre and the School of Foreign Languages are now part of the Doctrine and Development Centre.
Primary functions of the Doctrine and Development Centre:
- to direct and manage the production of military professional publications;
 - to develop concepts and to guide the long-term development of the Slovenian Armed Forces;
 - to act as the main driver of innovation and experimentation within the Slovenian Armed Forces;
 - to participate in the drafting of national security documents and strategies;
 - to manage e-learning in the Slovenian Armed Forces;
 - to manage the lessons-learned process within the Slovenian Armed Forces.
 
The new organizational structure enables the continuous development and implementation of military doctrines, the formulation of developmental guidelines and solutions, and the training and education of personnel at all levels. It also supports activities and processes that contribute to military science, education, training, and exercises within the Slovenian Armed Forces.
