Brigadier General Bojan Pograjc
Brigadier General Pograjc was born in 1961 in Ljubljana, Republic of Slovenia.
He graduated from the Reserve Officers' School for Air-Defence Artillery and Missile Units at Zadar, Croatia in 1981.
His early assignments included duties with the Territorial Defence of the Republic of Slovenia. After Slovenia declared its independence in 1991, he began to work for the MoD of the Republic of Slovenia as Head of the Procurement Section for Domestic Market in the Logistics Directorate. In 1998, he was moved to be Country Officer in the Section for Bilateral Cooperation and later Chief of the Section for Euro-Atlantic Integration in the Department for International Military Cooperation of the General Staff. Transferred back to the MoD in 2000, he was assigned as the non-political State Secretary. Following that duty, he held staff positions to include Chief of the Department for Logistics and Chief of the Department for Army Branches in J-5 of the General Staff. More recently, Brigadier General Pograjc served as Assistant to Chief of the General Staff, as Commander of the 1st Brigade from 2007, as Commandant of the Doctrine, Development, Education and Training Command from 2009, as Deputy Commander of the NATO-led Kosovo Force (KFOR) from 2012 and Assistant to Chief of the General Staff from 2013. In May 2017, he assumed the duty of Chief of Staff of the General Staff.
His military education includes the International Defence Management Course at the Defence Resources Management Institute, Monterey, California, the Advanced Logistics Officer Course Quantico, Virginia and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, the General Staff Officer Course of the Slovenian Armed Forces, and the Generals, Flag Officers and Ambassadors’ Course at the NATO Defence College, Rome and Brussels.
He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana and a Master's Degree in National Security Strategy from the National War College at the National Defence University in Washington.
His awards and decorations include Order of General Maister, 3rd Degree, Order of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Gold Medal of General Maister, Gold Medal of the Slovenian Armed Forces and foreign awards of the Commander Cross with Swords of the Order pro Merito Melitensi of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, the Legion of Merit in the degree of Officer of the United States Armed Forces and the Badge of Honour of the German Armed Forces in the grade of the Silver Cross of Honour for Outstanding Deeds. He is authorized to wear the Slovenian Armed Forces Military Mountain Guide Badge.
He is married to Larisa. They have a son Vid.
