Mountain School/Center of Excellence for Mountain Warfare MMS/COEMW

COEMW Challenges

Republic of Slovenia has decided to develop Centre of Excellence for
Mountain Warfare. Strong support of the ACT/TNB and the wide interest of
the potential participating countries help us to overcome all the challenges
step by step.
Centre of Excellence for Mountain Warfare (COEMW) will grove from
National to Multinational in June 2011 with signing the MOU among
Slovenia and participating Countries.
It is expected to become fully NATO COE MW in 2015. It will consist of
Framework nation(Slovenia) and sponsoring nations.
The mission of the Centre of Excellence for Mountain Warfare (COEMW) is
to support the concept of developing and training forces and assets, as
well as operational methods of the mountain warfare for the framework
nation, allies and sponsoring nations.
The Centre of excellence for Mountain Warfare is organized so as to allow
for the functioning at least three out of four pillars:

• Concept development and experiments,
• Lessons learned,
• Education and training,
• Doctrine Development
