The Battalion is attached to the Air Defence and Aviation Brigade. It performs constant surveillance and control of the airspace of the Republic of Slovenia, transfers information on the airspace situation to users and manages the performance of the air space task.

Tasks
- Perform radar surveillance of Slovenian airspace and its surroundings by long and short range radar systems.
- Distribute, combine and process radar information.
- Perform identification – classification of aircrafts and description of the air space situation.
- Distribute a report of the air situation to users, as well as to the command and control structure of the Slovenian Armed Forces, air defence units and military aviation units.
- Exchange information on the air space situation with NATO centres and bodies for civil airspace control.
- Control air defence weapons systems when engaging airspace targets.
- Perform combat management of air defence weapons systems when engaging airspace targets (perform target sharing between rocket systems and interceptors, as well as manage interceptors and direct them to air space targets – Air Policing).
- Provide navigation help to aircrafts in distress.
- Train experts in the area of airspace control.
