The Battalion is attached to the 72nd Brigade and provides engineer support to the units of the Slovenian Armed Forces, as well as to civilian structures.

Tasks

- Obstacles: pioneer units are trained to set up all types of minefields, mines and other obstacles against
airborne operations, construct and strengthen reinforcing obstacles, destroy parts of roads and all types of facilities along them, as well as to block advances made by adversaries, and to provide security and engineer reconnaissance.
-    Fortification and camouflage: technical units are trained for the fortification of command posts and important parts of the battle formation, as well as for their camouflage.
-    Provision of movement: pioneer units are trained to breach minefields, establish control-security services and organise the crossing of water obstacles (by boats or light ferries). Technical units are trained to repair destroyed parts of roads in combat zones, while bridge units are trained to breach natural obstacles using armoured vehicle-launched bridges.
