Two Slovenian motorised platoons relocated to the area of Kosovska Mitrovica
On Wednesday, 12 October, a Motorised Platoon of the Slovenian India company engaged in KFOR was relocated to Kosovska Mitrovica. Together with an Austrian company it is currently responsible for the protection and observation of the bridge over the Ibar river separating the Serbian and Albanian parts of Kosovska Mitrovica. The Slovenian platoon’s area of responsibility is one of the most risky areas in Kosovo, where the probability of possible incidents and interethnic conflicts is the highest. Slovenian troops exercise 24-hour observation and control of all the activities in the area that could possibly threaten the security and freedom of movement. The reliable and responsible performance of tasks is mainly a result of good training and preparedness as well as good health condition and well-being of Slovenian servicememebers.
In addition to the protection of the camp Villagio Italia and the Peć patriarchy, which remain two of the permanent tasks of the Slovenian Contingent, KFOR Commander has at his disposal also a platoon of the Kilo Company to intervene immediately in the event of a deteriorating security situation. The quartering of the platoon at a French camp in Novo Selo was carried out on 16 October by a Logistic Platoon assisted by members of the National Support Element and Monitoring and Liaison Teams.
