The 17th Slovenian Armed Forces Contingent assumes tasks in Afghanistan
On Friday, 27 April, a ceremony took place in Camp Stone in Herat, marking the transfer of duties between two Slovenian ISAF contingents in Afghanistan. Commander of the 16th Contingent Colonel Robert Glavaš handed over duties to Colonel Klemen Medja who will be in command of the 17th Slovenian Contingent.
The main body of the Slovenian Contingent works in the base in Bala Boluk where – just as the previous contingent – in addition to advising an Afghan infantry battalion it provides combat support and protection of advisory teams, and national logistic support. The advisory team and the combat support unit also include 12 members of the Colorado National Guard, while Slovenian Contingent members are also engaged in ISAF commands in Kabul, Herat, Shindand and Wardak.
According to Commander of the 17th Slovenian ISAF Contingent Colonel Medja, all contingent members are healthy and feel well.
