Sports teams of the Slovenian Armed Forces ready for the 5th Military World Games
On Tuesday, 12 July, a press conference was held at Franc Rozman Stane Military Post presenting members of Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) sports teams before leaving for the 5th Military World Games, which will take place in Rio de Janiero between 16 and 24 July.
The press conference was attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Major General Alojz Šteiner, Chief of Slovenian delegation to International Military Sports Council (CISM), Brigadier Bojan Pograjc, President of the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, Mr Janez Kocjančič, MSc, Head of the military delegation to Rio, Colonel Vilibald Polšak and his assistant, Lieutenant Colonel Jure Velepec.
The SAF delegation to the 5th Military World Games includes 27 members, namely 18 competitors and 9 delegates, referees and coaches. The competitors are divided into six teams: martial arts (Private Lucija Polavder, Private Raša Sraka Vukovič, Private Urška Žonir and Private Nuša Rajher), athletics (Private Matija Kranjc and Master Corporal Zvonko Blatnik), orienteering (Sergeant 1st Class Janez Pretnar), parachuting (Captain Irena Avbelj, 1st Lieutenant Roman Karun, Sergeant 1st Class Senad Salkić, Sergeant 1st Class Borut Erjavec, Staff Sergeant Uroš Ban, Staff Sergeant Domen Vodišek), pentathlon (Staff Sergeant Matej Kostanjevec and Staff Sergeant Damjan Kus) and shooting (Sergeant 1st Class Dušan Ziško, Private Rajmond Debevec and Private Robi Markoja).
