Slovenian forward air controllers attend military exercise in the United States
In the following days, a group of servicemembers from the SAF Air Defence and Aviation Brigade and the Special Operations Unit will leave to attend international military exercise Ramstein Rover 2010, which will take place between 20 August and 5 September in the USA. Hosted by the USA armed forces, the training audience is composed of servicemembers from Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovenia and United Kingdom.
This is the first exercise of such dimensions, where members of the armed forces will train air control in the execution of close air support and forward air control. The training of forward air controllers will be carried out in theatre-realistic scenarios, providing close air support to G-16 and B-1 aircraft, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and using modern information and communication technology (radios Harris PRC 117F, laser designators, devices for receiving imagery from aircraft – Rover terminal etc.)
