Slovenian Contingent maintains good relations with the local population in Kosovo

In August, the Civil-Military Cooperation Group together with the Military Police Platoon, SVNKON 21 KFOR Liaison and Monitoring Teams and the Red Cross in Kosovo launched a project of donating basic foodstuffs to socially disadvantaged families within the area of operations of the Slovenian Contingent in Kosovo. The project of donating basic foodstuffs was carried out in the municipalities of Klina, Istok, Leposavić and Vučitrn. Food packages were distributed to 20 families of different nationalities in Kosovo (Albanian, Serbian, Bosnian, Roma and Ashkali), selected with the help of the Kosovo Red Cross. The aim of the donation was to help the socially disadvantaged families as well as to maintain good relations between the Slovenian Armed Forces members and the local population in Kosovo.
A part of the donated foodstuffs came from the members of the Military Police Platoon working at KFOR Command in Priština. They arranged to exchange the meals they had not made use of at the Film City military base mess for foodstuffs (100 kg of rise, 45 litres of edible oil and 120 kg of flour). The entire lot was handed over to the Civil-Military Cooperation Group which provided the other part of the donation. The Slovenian Armed Forces Chaplaincy donated toys for the children collected in Slovenia.
