Slovenian Armed Forces member completes observation mission within UNSMIS
On Monday, 20 August, a Slovenian Armed Forces officer returned to Slovenia after completing an 89-day deployment to UN mission UNSMIS (United Nations Supervision Mission in Syria).
Lieutenant Colonel Josip Bostič was deployed to the observation mission in Syria on 24 May 2012 on the basis of the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia. As a military observer he was tasked with observation and reporting on potential violations of peace agreement and arrangements between Syria and the UN. He was stationed in Damask and was, as head of the international group of military observers responsible for the area of Damask and the province of Rif Damascus. UN observers in Syria performed tasks related to the surveillance of implementing the Six-Point Plan developed by the UN Special Envoy and was adopted by Syria as well.Tweet
