Force Commander BG Furlan visits Slovenian ISAF Contingent in Afghanistan
On Moday, 19 December, Force Commander of the Slovenian Armed Forces Brigadier General Branimir Furlan arrived to Afghanistan on a holiday visit to members of the 16th Slovenian ISAF Contingent, which assumed the mentorship of an Afghan battalion in October. During his visit, Brigadier General Furlan was accompanied by Deputy Director of Staff Brigadier General Alenka Ermenc.
On the first day of the visit, Brigadier General observed field mentorship of a mortar company at the Durayee check point. OMLT members acquainted him with their work and future plans. During his visit to Bala Boluk, Brigadier General Furlan met with Deputy Commander of the Afghan Battalion, Major Sardar Aghamom, Commander of an Italian company and visited the military base and facilities used by our servicemembers during the performance of tasks.
On Tuesday, 20 December, Brigadier General Furlan met with contingent members in Bala Boluk. The troops acquainted him with the situation in Afghanistan as well as with their tasks and work in general. Force Commander, in return, updated the troops on the situation in the Slovenian Armed Forces and its future activities in multinational operations and missions. Later on, he engaged in a conversation with the troops and discussed their well being and work in Afghanistan. He used the opportunity to wish the troops and their families happy holidays and all the best in the year to come.
On 21 December, Force Commander continued with a visit to Herat, where he met with members of the Slovenian Contingent working at camps Stone and Arena.
