At the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, the Chief of the Public Affairs Division is the person duly authorized to provide information to the public and at the same time the Official Spokesperson of the Slovenian Armed Forces and the official person authorized to disseminate public information on behalf of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces. Commands of the Slovenian Armed Forces down to the brigade level have their own authorized public affairs officers.
Basic tasks of public affairs officers in the Slovenian Armed Forces include:
• preparing communication strategies,
• informing the public about the activities of the Slovenian Armed Forces regularly,
• monitoring the public opinion about the Slovenian Armed Forces,
• planning communication activities,
• preparing and providing answers to media questions.
In addition, the Chief of the Public Affairs Division provides replies to questions and requests posed by citizens in accordance with the Access to Public Information Act.
