International NATO and PfP NCO Winter Camp at Pokljuka
From Friday, 6 March to Friday, 13 March, the Slovenian Armed Forces hosted the 13th International NATO and PfP NCO Winter Camp at Pokljuka. It was attended by 28 non-commissioned officers (NCOs) from Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Slovakia, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and Slovenia.
The idea of the camp was based on the integration of NCOs from partner armed forces in the joint planning of mutual cooperation and development of comparable national NCO corps. Camp participants reinforced the cooperation of NCOs from PfP states, increased their levels of knowledge and military skills, exchanged experiences and encouraged further development of the NCO corps of the participating armed forces. This year’s camp activities included leadership, winter military mountaineering, and mountain warfare. During the first part of the camp, participants were acquainted with the historical, cultural and military heritage of the Republic of Slovenia. This continued with the presentations of NCO corps of different armed forces, which was further enhanced by top-level guest lecturers. The camp concluded with a competition in military winter mountain warfare skills.
