Force Commander hosts Chief of Staff of the Italian Army
On Wednesday, 11 July, Chief of Staff of the Italian Army, General Salvatore Farina with his delegation arrived on his first official two-day visit in the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF). His host, SAF Force Commander Brigadier General Milko Petek welcomed General Farina at Ivan Cankar Barracks in Vrhnika. The pair exchanged information and experiences on the activities and close cooperation of both armed forces in international operations and missions, which has been underway since the first SAF deployment in 1997 in Albania. Additionally, they discussed further joint efforts in light of achieving NATO Force Goals and adding declared capabilities to NATO force structure. Further discussion concerned bilateral cooperation in the field of common training and exercises.
Brigadier General Petek used the opportunity to present to General Farini the force structure of the Slovenian Armed Forces, its ambitions and tasks arising from the doctrine, as well as its main goals, capability development and priorities.
General Farina was also received by Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces Major General Alan Geder. During working lunch, the pair exchanged opinions on future cooperation between both armed forces.
Finally, General Farina was acquainted with the activities and missions of the SAF 1st Brigade and 72nd Brigade as well as the Role 2 field capability.
