Chief of the General Staff Major General Alenka Ermenc attends NATO Military Committee Conference
On Tuesday, 15 and Wednesday, 16 January, the NATO Military Committee in Chiefs of Defence session met in Brussels. The conference was also attended by Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces Major General Alenka Ermenc.
On the first day of the conference, Chiefs of Defence discussed NATO's current and future strategic challenges, NATO's military strategy, operations and missions, deterrence and defence posture and the NATO Readiness Initiative. Chiefs of Defence also met with operational partners and exchanged views on the support for the Resolute Support Mission (RSM) as well as assistance and advisory support provided to Afghan institutions and Afghan National Defence and Security Forces in the assurance of regional security.
On the second day, the focus was put on deterrence measures, the new Common Funded Capabilities model and NATO- Georgia partnership, especially highlighting the cooperation progress. The conference completed with a debate on the Western Balkans and the Kosovo Force mission.
On the margins of the conference, Chief of the General Staff Major General Alenka Ermenc sat in bilateral meetings with her counterparts from Canada, Austria, Hungary and Croatia. She also had a separate meeting with Chairman of the NATO Military Committee Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach.
