Ceremony marking the return of the 2nd Slovenian contingent from Latvia
On Friday, 13 July, a ceremony was held at Franc Rozman Stane Barracks in Celje marking the return of the 2nd Slovenian Enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) contingent under the command of Captain Gorazd Stergar.
The keynote speaker, Commander of the 1st Brigade Colonel Robert Glavaš said that the contingent had formed a part of the largest NATO’s collective defence reinforcement effort and had proven to be a professional, competent and credible partner contributing to the upgraded interoperability of allied forces and enhanced readiness of the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF). He thanked the troops for the successfully accomplished work as well as all their friends and family members for providing support throughout the deployment.
The second contingent included fifty SAF members. The bulk of the contingent was composed of a multipurpose Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Defence battalion with attached elements. Contingent members were engaged in eFP peacetime activities, such as exercises, training events and other activities. By participating in the eFP mission, Slovenia expresses its support for the enhancement of NATO’s comprehensive, deterrence and defence posture.
On this occasion, contingent members received »In the Service of Peace« medals and a memorial coin of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia for their effort and professionalism.
