Ceremony marking the beginning of the military exercise Adriatic Strike 2017
On Sunday, 4 June, the Jernej Molan barracks in Cerklje ob Krki was the venue of the ceremony marking the beginning of the military exercise Adriatic Strike 2017. Exercise participants were addressed by Deputy Commander of the Force Command, Brigadier Ernest Anželj and Exercise Director Colonel Bojan Brecelj, Commander of the 15th Wing, Slovenian Armed Forces. Brigadier and Colonel wished the participants safe and successful execution of the exercise as well as effective collaboration in the attainment of the set goals.
At Adriatic Strike 2017, which will be held between Sunday, 4 June and Saturday, 10 June, and will take place over the broad territory of the Republic of Slovenia, the Slovenian Armed Forces supported by air force capabilities will train Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs).
Some 500 participants will be present at the exercise, 250 of them members of alliance. JTAC training will be supported by a total of 30 rotary-wing and fixed-wing aircraft. It will be conducted at six different locations around Slovenia. At the main SAF training range Postojna, aircraft, tanks, mortars and guns will provide fire support, while in the wider surroundings of Soriška Planina, Gotenica, Loka pri Žusmu – Velika Špička and in the municipalities of Celje and Trbovlje, aircraft will only simulate air support.
