10th SAF contingent in Mali continues to train the military of Mali
The 10th Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) contingent in the EU’s multinational operation in Mali has been performing duties in the Koulikoro Training Centre since November. Contingent members have been working in the Education and Training Task Force (ETTF) command and as instructors of the military of Mali within the subordinated Mobile Training Task Force (ETTF) and Combined Mobile Advisory and Training Teams (CMATT) under the command of the mission.
The mission of the EU Training Mission (EUTM), which has been undergoing its third mandate between May 2016 and May 2018, is to provide military education, advice and training of the military of Mali, thereby supporting the introduction of reforms and the improvement of defence capabilities on the territory of Mali, as well as to protect the inhabitants.
EUTM Mali was established on 17 January 2013 and is in addition to other international organisations and Malian authorities one of the key actors in the implementation of the Algerian peace accord and establishment of secure environment in Mali following the outbreak of civil war in 2012.
